North Shore Families Pack Seeds, Send Hope to Zimbabwe

Volunteers gathered to pack beet seeds at Willow Creek Community Church's North Shore Campus in Northfield.

More than 3,000 volunteers gathered over the weekend to pack beet seeds for families in Zimbabwe and Zambia at Willow Creek Community Church’s Northfield Campus and prepared more than 100,000 family seed packets for people living in poverty overseas, Chicago Tribune reported.

Steve Gillen, the church’s North Shore campus pastor, says each seed packet provides not only a supply of food for the family but also additional income, “It’s like teaching them fishing rather than just giving them fish,” he said, Chicago Tribune reported.
