Oak Street Water Main Project Starts June 3
Workers are installing a new water main on Oak Street between Chestnut and Birch streets.
After a section of the 100-year-old water main on Oak Street failed on four occassions during the summer of 2012, the village is now replacing the water main on Oak Street between Chestnut and Birch Streets with a new eight-inch main, according to the village’s website.
The work starts June 3 and is expected to be completed by June 28.
Motorists could experience delays and detours during the construction period, which runs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. During the construction, Dwyer Court, at the east end of the Post Office parking lot will allow cars to exit from the Elm street entrance.
Residents in that block will have access to their driveways but as construction progresses driveway access could be affected for short periods of time, according to the village.
The village contracted with A-Lamp Concrete Contractors Inc. to replace the water main on Oak Street.
