GLENCOE

INCIDENTS

SHOPLIFTING
Someone stole three necklaces worth about $150 from an unspecified business in the 300 block of Park Avenue at some point prior to 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 23.

THEFT
Someone stole a ring and several watches worth more than $10,000 combined from a home in the 300 block of Old Green Bay Road at some point prior to 3 p.m. Sept. 25.

CAR/GARAGE BURGLARY
A resident in the 700 block of Elder Court reported that someone was able to open their garage door around 2:30 a.m. after they left a garage door opener inside an unlocked BMW. The resident did not report anything was stolen from inside the garage.

THEFT
Someone stole an unspecified political sign from the front lawn of a home in the 600 block of Bluff Street prior to 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 28.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • More than $1,000 in charges were accrued on a fraudulent AT&T account using the stolen identity of a Harbor Street resident prior to the afternoon of Sept. 24.
  • Someone used the identity of a Grove Street resident to fraudulently obtain a $9,300 loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration prior to the afternoon of Sept. 25.
  • A Fairfield Road resident reported on the afternoon of Sept. 28 that someone had used their identity to lease an apartment. The resident only learned of the theft when they were contacted by a collection agency about debt in their name.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 19-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested around 9:45 p.m. on Sept. 23 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop near Dundee Road and the Edens Expressway. he was also cited for disobeying a traffic sign and improper lane usage.

Michael P. Drake, 53, of the 300 block of Jefferson Avenue, Glencoe, was taken into custody around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 28 at the Glencoe Public Safety building on a warrant issued after he failed to appear in Cook County court in connection with a DUI charge.

Brandi Nicole Nash, 41, of the 7200 block of West 59th Street, Summit, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 29 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater. She was also issued a citation for illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver.

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • A Sheridan Road resident reported on the morning of Sept. 20 that someone had used their identity to rack up fraudulent medical bills.
  • A Cumberland Avenue resident reported on the morning of Sept. 22 that they noticed fraudulent bank activity using their identity.
  • A Sterling Road resident reported on the evening of Sept. 24 that someone had used their identity in an attempt to fraudulently obtain unemployment insurance benefits.

INCIDENTS

FRAUD
A resident in the 300 block of Wagner Road reported they received a letter about a new savings account that was addressed to an unfamiliar name at their address.

SUSPICIOUS PHONE CALL
An Arbor Lane resident reported that they got a call around noon on Sept. 25 from someone claiming to know their personal information, including the last four digits of their social security number.

BATTERY
A resident reported that a man spit on them while walking their dog on a sidewalk in the 1600 block of Willow Road. The resident did not wish to press charges.

CAR BURGLARIES

  • An Evanston resident reported that someone smashed the passenger side window of their car parked at Fox Meadow Park, 444 Fox Meadow Drive, around 11 a.m. on Sept. 27 and stole a purse from inside.
  • A Palatine resident reported that someone broke the driver's side window of their car and a stole purse from inside at some point between 11:20 a.m. and 12:54 p.m. on Sept. 27 at Middlefork School, 405 Wagner Road.

WILMETTE

INCIDENTS

SIGN VANDALISM

  • A resident in the 1600 block of Washington Avenue reported around 4 p.m. Sept. 22 that someone damaged a yard sign in their front yard.
  • A resident of the 800 block of Prairie Avenue reported that someone destroyed a yard sign between 9 p.m. Sept. 21 and 8 a.m. Sept. 22.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
An Indianwood Road resident reported around noon on Sept. 21 that someone had made two unauthorized charges to their credit card.

IDENTITY THEFT
A New Trier Court resident reported on the afternoon of Sept. 22 that someone destroyed a yard sign at their home.

CAR/GARAGE BURGLARIES

  • Someone got into an unlocked garage in the 200 block of Greenleaf Avenue and rummaged through an unlocked car inside prior to 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 23.
  • Someone stole $5 and documentation from an unlocked car parked in the 700 block of Washington Avenue prior to 12:45 p.m. Sept. 23.
  • A resident in the 1400 block of Gregory Avenue reported that their unlocked car had been burglarized and rummaged through.
  • Someone burglarized a trio of unlocked cars parked in a driveway in the 700 block of Michigan Avenue prior to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 23.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Perionne Walker, 18, of the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 24 charged with residential burglary following a foot chase that ended in the 100 block of Green Bay Road. A person who took off running with him after officers were called to a report that someone had just stolen a bicycle from inside an attached garage in the 100 block of Maple Avenue. Police reported several car burglaries in the area were linked to Walker and his companion, including in the 800 and 900 block of Oakwood Avenue and the 900 block of Linden Avenue.

GIFT CARD SCAM
An Ash Street resident reported they were scammed out of $100 by an email that claimed to be from their neighbor and asked for money via gift cards.

CAR BURGLARY
Someone got into an unlocked trailer between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 23 in the 1200 block of Hill Road, stealing a concrete saw worth about $900 from inside.

BURGLARY
Someone broke into a locked storage unit in the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue between 10 a.m. Sept. 25 and 11 a.m. on Sept. 26 and forced their way into a locked safe, which turned out to be empty. A $500 loss was reported.

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • An Oak Street resident reported that someone used their identity to fraudulently apply for unemployment insurance benefits at some point between Sept. 10 and Sept. 21.
  • A Cherry Street resident reported that someone used their identity to apply for fraudulent unemployment insurance benefits prior to Sept. 25.
  • An Ash Street resident reported that someone used their identity to fraudulently apply for unemployment insurance benefits at some point between Sept. 13 and Sept. 26.
  • A Sunset Road resident reported that someone used their identity to open an unauthorized Comcast account between October 2019 and Sept. 27.
