NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

GLENCOE

INCIDENTS

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A Grove Street resident reported on the afternoon of May 3 that someone had compromised their Facebook account and the credit card associated with it. The resident had not reported suffering any financial loss.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

David C. Estrada, 41, of the 2000 block of Thornwood Avenue, Wilmette, was arrested around 10 a.m. on April 28 and charged with reckless driving, speeding 35 mph or more over the limit and unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver following a traffic stop on the Edens Expressway at Tower Road. He was also issued a citation for no insurance.

A 63-year-old Chicago man was issued a citation for soliciting without a permit in the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue around 3:30 p.m. on April 29.

THEFT
Someone stole a bicycle valued at $265 that had been left unlocked at a rack outside Joseph Sears School, 542 Abbotsford Road, between April 23 and April 26.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Meadowbrook Drive resident reported on the afternoon of April 29 that someone had opened an unauthorized bank account in their name. The resident had already reported the incident to the bank and credit bureau.

  • A resident in the 1100 block of Elmwood Avenue reported on April 15 that jewelry had gone missing from their home.
  • On April 23, a resident in the 400 block of Poplar Drive reported that their cell phone had gone missing.
  • A skateboarder at Gillson Park reported on April 23 that someone had stolen their unattended board while it was left unattended on the beach.
  • A resident in the first block of Poplar Drive reported on April 27 that someone had stolen a bicycle. No further details were provided.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY
Police investigated an incident that took place on April 23 in the 1100 block of Manor Drive in which a person bit another person during an argument. No further information was released by police and no charges appear to have been filed in connection with the bite.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone caused unspecified damage to a car parked in the 1100 block of Wilmette Avenue on or before April 25.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Marcello Robinson, 22, of the 400 block of E. Garfield Avenue, Milwaukee, was arrested at some point on April 24 after police were dispatched to a report of a domestic battery in the parking lot of the Dunkin Donuts, 3207 Lake Avenue.

Uyi Atekha, 34, of the 1300 block of Buffalo Avenue, Calumet City, was arrested around 4:45 a.m. on April 24 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after officers investigated a car with its lights on and its engine running in the 1600 block of Ashland Lane. Police reported the driver appeared to be intoxicated and refused to provide a breath sample as he was taken into custody.

A 55-year-old Wilmette man was arrested around 12:15 p.m. on April 25 and charged with driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop in the 3500 block of Lake Avenue. He was also issued a citation for cell phone use while driving.

Stanley B. Hicks, 66, of the 1400 block of Chicago Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around 1 p.m. on April 27 and charged with public indecency after officers were dispatched to Maple Park, 398 Maple Ave., for a report that he was "pulling on his pants" and acting erratically. When police arrived, they reported Hicks was sitting on a bench fondling his genitals in an area where multiple children and adults were present.

A 30-year-old Highwood woman was arrested around 4:45 p.m. on April 28 and charged with driving without a valid license after police pulled her over in the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard for using a cell phone while driving.


WINNETKA

INCIDENTS

MORTAGE SCAM
A Cherry Street resident was scammed out of more than $5,000 after receiving a letter from a fake financial company that asked to redirect recurring mortgage payments.

BATTERY
Around 5 p.m. on April 29, an unidentified attacker in the 1000 block of Westmoor Road walked up to one person on the sidewalk and slapped them from behind. The assailant also threw an unknown liquid on another person.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 30-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 6 p.m. on April 27 and charged with speeding 26 to 30 mph above the limit following a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Sheridan Road.

A 28-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 8:30 a.m. on May 1 and charged with driving without a valid driver's license following a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Willow Road.
