NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
GLENCOE
INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFT
Someone used the identity of a Sycamore Lane resident to open an account with Navy Federal Credit Union on or before May 10. There was no financial loss reported.
GIFT CARD SCAM
A Dundee Road resident reported on May 11 that someone had deceived them into buying more than $10,000 worth of gift cards and providing the numbers to a scammer.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Ezekiel Henderson, 52, of the 6900 block of West Oklahoma Avenue, Milwaukee, was arrested around 2 p.m. on May 10 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop near the intersection of Longwood and Park avenues. Officers also issued him citations for no insurance and improper lane usage.

Police reported no incidents, arrests or citations in the village from April 30 to May 14.

NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
UNLAWFUL USE OF A CREDIT CARD
A Lockwood Avenue resident reported on the afternoon of May 6 that someone had used their spouse's since-canceled credit card to make purchases at a Walmart in the area.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A new homeowner in the 400 block of Edgewood Lane called police around 5:30 p.m. on May 6 to report that the garage doors were open when they arrived at the resident with movers. Nothing was missing from inside.
SHOPLIFTING
- Police were dispatched to the Mariano's, 1822 Willow Road, around 3:45 p.m. on May 6 for a report that someone had just tried to steal about $528 worth of merchandise, including alcohol and allergy medication. The shoplifter dropped the stolen items and a store employee suffered a minor abrasion while attempting to tackle the fleeing thief, who remains at large.
- Staff at the Walgreens, 1825 Willow Road, reported around 7:30 p.m. on May 7 that a pair of shoplifters had stolen several items, including about $450 worth of dietary supplements.
- On the afternoon of May 8, Mariano's staff reported a male thief made off with about $736 worth of alcohol.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 62-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 9 a.m. on May 4 and charged with driving while license suspended after police were dispatched to the scene of a traffic crash around the intersection of Willow Road and Fox Meadow Drive. He was also issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Christopher L. Mendes, 23, of the 100 block of Longmeadow Road, Northfield, was arrested on the afternoon of May 5 at the Northfield Police Department and charged with battery in connection with an altercation with a visitor to his home three days earlier.
Jean L. Huyler, 77, of the 1600 block of Mt. Pleasant St., Northfield, was issued local ordinance violation citations for dog at large — third offense — as well as dog snapping, growling, jumping upon or threatening after a dog ran out of a home and bit another dog, who suffered several injuries that were treated by a local veterinarian.

INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFT
A Spencer Avenue resident reported on April 30 that someone had used their credit card without permission with unspecified results.
THEFT
- Someone stole a license plate from a car parked in the 2600 block of Greenleaf Avenue at some point on or before April 28.
- Someone stole a sailboat hull of unspecified value from the 100 block of Lake Avenue on or before May 3.
GIFT CARD SCAM
- A Greenleaf Avenue resident reported on April 27 that they had gotten an email supposedly from Amazon concerning a purchase of TV. When the resident contacted a number provided, the person who answered, identified as "Mike," said the resident's identity must have been stolen and told them to buy gift cards to help clear their identity. The resident realized it was a scam and hung up.
- A Birchwood Avenue resident reported on May 4 that they got an email that appeared to have come from the CEO of the company where they work. First, the message asked for the resident's cell phone number, then a scammer sent a text message asking for $400 in gift cards, "for a client." The resident sent $200 before realizing it was a scam.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Tracy Albano, 60, of the 1400 block of Wilmette Avenue, was arrested at the Wilmette Police Department on May 4 in connection with a May 1 report from a representative of Terry Animal Hospital, 1419 Lake Ave., that someone had stolen a prescription pad and may be using it without authorization. Police said Albano, an employee of the business, was charged with one count of misdemeanor theft.
WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFT
A Private Road resident reported that someone used their identity to open a Verizon account and make nearly $950 worth of unauthorized purchases between April 27 and May 4.
TECH SUPPORT SCAM
An Edgewood Lane resident reported on the afternoon of May 7 that someone had scammed them into going to a fake customer support website before gaining access to their personal accounts and making about $375 in unauthorized purchases.
THEFT
- Someone stole an unattended skateboard that had been left in the area of Tower Road Beach, 725 Sheridan Road, between 6:45 and 7:35 p.m. on May 2 for a $200 loss.
- Someone stole a wooden New Trier High School lacrosse team sign from the front yard of a home in the 1200 block of Cherry Street between 8 p.m. May 5 and 7 a.m. May 6 for a loss of $35.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
David R. Delacasa, 34, of the 800 block of South Hobart Boulevard, Los Angeles, was arrested around 5 a.m. on May 6 following an investigation into a traffic crash around the 400 block of Linden Street. He was taken into custody for unlawful possession of cannabis and later found to have an active arrested warrant stemming from an incident involving the Midlothian Police Department.
Andrew K. Prentice, 45, of the 400 block of Glendale Avenue, Winnetka, was arrested around 11:45 p.m. on May 6 at his house and charged with domestic battery in connection with an incident that had previously occurred at the home.
