Study Recommends Taller Buildings, Experience-Based Retail for Winnetka’s Business District

Winnetka trustees are excited by the vision presented by the Urban Land Institute.

 

How could Winnetka attract new businesses and apartment buildings? 

Easing building height limitations, easing off tough liquor license regulations and providing more alternative housing for senior citizens and younger people, were just some of the recommendations Urban Land Institute recently presented to Winnetka trustees, Chicago Tribune reported.

The institute conducted a two-day panel and interviewed more than 100 business owners, residents, landlords and tenants and also recommended Winnetka bring in more “experience-based retail” which provides an environment that online shopping cannot compete with, Chicago Tribune reported.
