New Trier Township and Bernie’s Book Bank are staging the sixth annual Kids Who Read Rise Summer Book Collection for at-risk children throughout Illinois. Gail Schnitzer Eisenberg, New Trier Township Supervisor said, “We began our partnership with a small bin at the township hall. This program has generated nearly 60,000 books since 2016. Reading readiness is critical, and I hope our residents will donate books that spark a child’s love for reading.”

The township continues to follow COVID-19 safety protocols, and this collection drive will be contactless. Volunteers and township staff will be on-hand to empty boxes and bags from vehicle trunks or hatchback areas.

Donors should visit the Regina Dominican High School campus at 701 Locust Road in Wilmette, Friday, July 9, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
