Warm Weather Ends Season At Watts Ice Center
All remaining events this winter at the Watts Ice Center in Glencoe are canceled, the park district announced.

GLENCOE, IL — The Watts Ice Center in Glencoe has closed for the rest of the winter due to unseasonably warm temperatures, the Glencoe Park District announced Tuesday. The rink's cooling system cannot compete with recent high temperatures, according to Facility Manager Adam Wohl. The ice center is open traditionally between Thanksgiving and the end of February, and during cold winters it can stay open into March.
Staff have been consistently monitoring conditions and performing maintenance throughout the season but recent warm weather has melted the ice beyond repair, according to Wohl, who thanked the community for a wonderful season.
All remaining rentals, classes, drop-in hockey times and public skates that were scheduled through the end of the season have been cancelled.
