Winnetka Approves $44K Sanitary Sewer Study, Program
The new study hopes to identify any unauthorized inflow and infiltration points into the sanitary sewer system to eliminate backup problems.

Winnetka trustees recently approved a $44,300 study and pilot rehab program for parts of the village’s sanitary sewer system that will use manhole investigations, smoke testing and possibly video to locate any illegal hookups into the sanitary system or other points where stormwater may enter the pipes, Winnetka Talk reported.
Eight specific areas of the village including Sunview Lane, east Winnetka, southeast Winnetka and southwest Winnetka are among the areas that will be tested by Baxter & Woodman Consulting Engineers, Winnetka Talk reported.

A Sept. 12 Patch article noted that the village is considering installing a stormwater tunnel underneath Willow Road from Glendale Ave. to Lake Michigan.
