Winnetka Blotter: Home, Car Burglarized; Criminal Trespass

A summary of incidents reported in Winnetka from April 26-May 1.

The following items are taken from the Winnetka Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please e-mail the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement.


May 1

Criminal Damage: A defaced street sign in the 1000 block of Sheridan Road was reported to the village's Public Works Department for repair.

April 30

Traffic Arrest: David Ermillo, 24, of Sugar Grove, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license as well as cited for failing to signal and possession of a revoked license. He was stopped at 9:43 a.m. in the 0-100 block of Green Bay Road. His court date is June 7.

April 29

Motor Vehicle Burglary: Money and a credit card left overnight in an unsecured car in the 800 block of Hill Road was reported stolen. The amount of the loss is $75.

April 28

Theft: A resident in the 700 block of Burr Avenue reported a missing engagement ring, bracelet and necklaces, valued at $4,600. The theft may have occurred in the past two months.

Cannabis Possession: Allen Beyer, 18, of Winnetka, was arrested on a charge of possession of cannabis as well as cited for possession of drug paraphernalia in the 100 block of De Windt Road at 1:22 p.m. His court date is May 19.

Criminal Trespassing: A woman in the 800 block of Humboldt Avenue notified police after she heard someone enter her home through an unlocked door and saw the male intruder flee at 9:49 a.m. Nothing was reported missing from the home.

April 26

Residential Burglary: A resident in the 1200 block of Oak Street notified police after she noticed a pocket watches and other pieces of jewelry were missing from her home. The theft could have occurred earlier in the day as entry might have been through an unlocked door. The amount of the loss is unknown.
