Winnetka Boy Scouts Earn Eagle Scout Rank
Three Winnetka Boy Scouts completed local community service projects to earn their rank.

Three Winnetka Boy Scouts earned their Eagle Scout ranks Tuesday.
John MacAdam built shelving for Christ Church in one of their large Rummage rooms, Brian Cross built a stage for the Winnetka Youth Organization (WYO), and John Gaschler painted a map of the USA on the Crow Island Elementary playground. In each project, the boys raised the money themselves to pay for the materials and recruited volunteers to help. Each project had to involve at least 100 hours of combined volunteer time. Eagle Badges are awarded to very few scouts and it is quite an honor to receive one. In order to qualify to do a project, the boys must first have earned all of the required badges, and then complete an arduous process of project approval, then do the project and have it all done before they turn 18. Troop 18 has awarded 202 Eagle Badges since it was founded 100 years ago in 1911.
