Winnetka Police Blotter: Shots Fired, False Tax Return, Theft
The following incident reports are from the Winnetka Police Department.

Theft
A victim discovered on March 30, between 11:45 a.m. and noon, an unknown offender(s) removed a small, red zippered wristlet from the counter at 1001 Green Bay Road. The wristlet contained an Ohio license, credit cards and $80 cash.
A business owner at 736 Elm St. discovered between 10 a.m. on March 9 and 11:30 a.m. on March 10 unknown offender(s) removed a lockbox containing cash and personal checks from an unsecured office. The amount of the loss was $5,000. An investigation continues.

Identity Theft
A victim in the 700 block of Foxdale Avenue discovered between noon on March 24 and 8:50 a.m. on April 1 unknown offender(s) used the victim’s personal identifiers to file a federal income tax return. The loss is unknown at this time.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle
A victim discovered between 6:30 p.m. on April 1 and 7:40 a.m. on April 2 unknown offender(s) entered her vehicle in the parking lot of 458 Winnetka Avenue and removed $3 worth of loose change.
Unlawful Use of a Weapon
On April 3, several residents in the 1000 block of Sheridan Road reported hearing the sound of possible gun shots being fired in the area. Upon arrival, officers located several spent pistol cartridges in the roadway but did not locate any person(s) or vehicles involved. After an initial investigation and search of the area, officers could not determine a target or identify any other criminal activity. An investigation continues.
