You Might Soon Be Able to Attend Court in Winnetka
Village officials are considering beginning a local administrative hearing process for minor offensives.

Winnetka officials are considering beginning a local administrative hearing process for minor offensives, such as parking tickets, according to the Chicago Tribune. Currently, residents have to travel to the Cook County Circuit Court for such offensives. If approved, the ordinance would allow for residents to plead their cases in the Winnetka Village Hall before a hearing officer.
Tickets issued by Winnetka police for moving violations would still be handled by the county, according to the Tribune article. The local hearings would be those contesting parking tickets and other "quasi-criminal" offenses, such as minors in possession of tobacco and alcohol.
No final decision has been made yet concerning the hearings.
