Apply For Yorkville Police Citizens Police Academy
Citizens Police Academy class members will have the opportunity to get hands-on instruction regarding several police-related procedures.
YORKVILLE, IL — The Yorkville Police Department is accepting applications for their Citizens Police Academy, the department said in a news release. Interested candidates must work or reside in the Yorkville School District boundaries, and must be at least 18 years old and have no felony convictions, the news release said. Space is limited to no more than 20 people, the police department said.
As part of the Citizens Police Academy, screened and approved applicants will have the
opportunity to receive hands-on instruction regarding several police-related
procedures and techniques, according to the news release. Blocks of instruction will include demonstrations, presentations, and other informative topics related to police work, the police department added.
The academy classes will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 9, (subject to change due to COVID-19 guidelines), and will conclude with a graduation
reception, the news release said.

Applications are available online or those interested can pick one up at the Yorkville Police Department. Applications must be turned in no later than Aug. 28, according to the police department.

Selected participants will be notified of their acceptance into the Citizens Police
Academy class, police said.
