Dashcam Captures Pursuit And Fatal Crash In Yorkville

The 17-year-old was driving a car that had been reported stolen.

Yorkville Police released dashcam video showing a crash that killed a 17-year-old girl fleeing a traffic stop in the Heartland subdivision.

On Jan. 5, a woman on the 700 block of Arrowhead Drive saw someone stealing packages off her front porch, according to the Beacon News. She called police and reported that the thief was in a Toyota Avalon.

A responding officer saw a gray Toyota Avalon and made a traffic stop. Before he could walk to the stopped car, it took off.

The car eventually crashed into a tree on the 600 block of Heartland Drive. The driver, 17-year-old Nichelle Hill from Dolton, Illinois, was ejected from the car and later pronounced dead.

The car had been reported stolen on Jan. 2. In the car, police found three packages addressed to the woman who made the initial report.
