Dozens Of Citations Issued During Recent Traffic Campaign

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office announces the results of the Route 126 Saturation Patrol Initiative Traffic Enforcement Campaign.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — The Kendall County Sheriff's office issued dozens of traffic citations — most of which were for speeding — during the Aug. 31 through Sept. 4 Route 126 Saturation Patrol Initiative Traffic Enforcement Campaign. According to a news release from the sheriff's office, deputies focused efforts on speeding and unsafe driving-related traffic offenses on IL Route 126 in an effort to increase awareness and enhance traffic safety.

During this time, deputies conducted 84 traffic stops during that timeframe, issuing 48 traffic citations, including 38 speeding citations, 2 aggravated speeding citations (for speeding above 26 mph over the posted speed limit). The highest speed was 87 mph in a 55 mph speed zone, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies also issued citations for disobeying no passing zones, violations of Scott’s Law (not moving over or slowing down for stopped police or emergency vehicle), and possession of cannabis in an unapproved container, along with 40 written warnings for other moving or equipment violations during the week, according to the news release.

The Sheriff’s Office was joined by Illinois State Police District 05, Yorkville Police Department, and the Plainfield Police Department for this traffic safety campaign. The total number of traffic stops made by all participating law enforcement agencies totaled 210 with 158 total citations issued, including 122 speeding citations, 8 aggravated speeding citations, 1 illegal transportation of alcohol, according to the news release. The sheriff's office added that 21 additional citations were issued and 83 written warnings were given.

The Sheriff’s Office wishes to remind the public that this recent campaign was intended to bring attention to the dangers of unsafe driving and excessive speed, the news release said. All drivers should remember the importance of abiding by the posted speed limit and always staying alert and concentrating on the road, the sheriff's office added.
