Gilmour Didn't File Economic Interests Statement, Resident Claims
The fate of Gilmour's candidacy will be decided by the city's electoral board on Wednesday.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Yorkville resident Rich Vinyard is formally challenging the candidacy of Tom Gilmour for Ward 3 alderman in Yorkville, claiming the candidate did not file a statement of economic interests with the county clerk as required by law, KendallCountyNow reports.
Vinyard, a member of the city's planning and zoning commission, told WSPY News that he decided to look into Ward 3 petitions after seeing multiple candidates removed from the ballot in neighboring Aurora, Illinois, for similar paperwork issues.
Gilmour did file a statement of economic interests with the city; Yorkville's deputy clerk sent Patch a copy of all the paperwork he filed, which included the statement. In document, Gilmour answered "N/A" to questions asking about business interests, capital assets or gifts over $500.

The city electoral board will meet Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. to determine whether Gilmour will be on the ballot in April.
If Gilmour wins that hearing, he will face three other candidates — Chris Funkhouser, Matthew Marek and Mark Sepplefrick — on April 2. If he loses, he may appeal the decision in circuit court.
