YORKVILLE, IL—To honor fallen officers from Kendall County as well as across the nation, the Kendall County Association of Chiefs of Police hosted its annual law enforcement memorial ceremony. The May 8 event, which drew a crowd, took place in front of the courthouse in Yorkville.

This time around, the ceremony added Special Agent Robert Kolowski of the Illinois State Police to the list of fallen officers to honor. Kolowski died in the line of duty Feb. 25, 1993. He was granted the honor posthumously after being nominated last year, officials said. For close to 20 years, Kolowski served Kendall County.

“It’s important to acknowledge and remember not only those who have fallen on duty, but to also show respect for their families,” Kendall County Sheriff Dwight Baird said in a release.
