Kendall County Master Gardeners To Host Seed Swap Feb. 2
"You likely have shared recipes with friends. Why not try exchanging plant seeds?"

YORKVILLE, IL — The Kendall County Master Gardeners will host a free community seed swap on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the University of Illinois extension office in Yorkville, according to a news release.
"You likely have shared recipes with friends. Why not try exchanging plant seeds?" said Sara Fellerer, a University of Illinois extension master gardener program coordinator in Kendall County. "It's a great way to diversify your garden."
On the day of the event, she said, everyone is invited to swap seeds or just stop by to pick up free seeds. According to the group, Master Gardeners already have a wide variety of vegetable, flower and herb seeds on hand, as well as native plant seeds, which all come labeled with care instructions.

Gardeners are encouraged to bring seeds to share if they have them," Fellerer said. "Please make sure they are fresh, labeled and not from F1 hybrids, so they grow true to type. We have hundreds of varieties of seeds to share with everyone, so be sure to stop by."
During the event, master gardeners will be available for questions and to demonstrate germination tests and a seed-starting system.
