Kendall County, IL (June 30, 2021, 10:30 AM)
In August of 2019, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office partnered with Augie Ghilarducci of 2nd Opportunity to implement a viable job readiness program for incarcerated individuals. The program includes an introduction to supportive services, creates goals, specific plans for employment, re-entry into society, financial literacy, communication skills, and interviewing skills to help create a path forward upon release.
On June 9, 2021, six inmates graduated from the 2nd Opportunity program. These individuals were the fourth group of graduates to complete the program here at the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office. The program consisted of attending class once a week for 10 weeks and completing additional coursework outside of class. Please help us congratulate these individuals for their dedication and determination in completing the 10-week 2nd Opportunity Program.
“I am proud of the continued partnership with 2nd Opportunity which focuses on educating our inmates and preparing them for a more seamless reintegration into the workforce following their release from incarceration. This is a very effective program that helps to support our continued efforts to reduce recidivism,” said Sheriff Dwight Baird.
The inmates pictured in the attached photo were given the option of being included in photograph. They all made the decision to be included in the photograph and are proud of their accomplishment.
