Kendall County Sheriff's Office Wins Traffic Safety Challenge

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office won first place in their bracket for sheriff's offices in Illinois with 50-100 sworn officers.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — The Kendall County Sheriff's Office announced Friday they recently learned they've been named the winners of the 2019-2020 Traffic Safety Challenge. According to a news release sent to Patch, the sheriff's office won first place in their bracket for sheriff's offices in Illinois with 50-100 sworn officers.

The sheriff's office was awarded a plaque, a Stalker RADAR device and an Intoximeter Portable Breath Test with a case, and on Thursday, Detective Todd Brautigam, Deputy Frank Pavlik, and Sgt. Mark Bunting accepted the award for the sheriff's office.

In the news release, the sheriff's office said the Traffic Safety Challenge is about saving lives and reducing traffic-related injuries. It's also about friendly competition between law enforcement agencies concerning positive traffic safety programs, and awarding the best overall traffic safety programs in Illinois.

The program is coordinated by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP) Traffic Committee and supported by an NHTSA grant administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Transportation Safety, as well as funding from private entities, the news release stated.

Agencies are evaluated for enforcement initiatives, and also for creating departmental policies that support their traffic enforcement campaign efforts and employ creative methods of educating the motoring public focused on enhancing the safety of everyone on the roadways.
