Kendall Health Department Warns Of Fake Weed, Severe Bleeding

Multiple deaths have been reported in Illinois caused by internal bleeding from rat poison-laced synthetic cannabis.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — After multiple deaths and nearly 100 reports of internal bleeding caused by synthetic cannabinoids — which in some cases have been found to be laced with a lethal anticoagulant rat poison — the Kendall County Health Department has issued a warning to residents. A message posted online Friday urges residents to avoid synthetic cannabis products and to get help immediately for unexplained bruising or bleeding.

On Friday, another death — this time a 22-year-old man who suffered internal bleeding at a Cook County motel last week — linked to synthetic cannabis was reported. Last week, Illinois Department of Public Health officials reported deaths in Kane County and Peoria.

Three employees at a Chicago convenience store are facing federal charges for selling fake weed, sold under the name K2, to contain rat poison and a drug banned by the FDA last year.
