Pedestrian Killed In Yorkville Crash

An Oswego man was driving when the 26-year-old Yorkville man was fatally hit just after 1 a.m.

YORKVILLE, IL — A pedestrian was fatally hit by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Yorkville, police said. The pedestrian, identified as 26-year-old Ryan Baker of Yorkville, was struck near the intersection of Route 34 and Autumn Creek Boulevard just after 1 a.m.

Baker was taken to Rush-Copley Hospital in Aurora, where he was pronounced dead. Police said it was previously reported that he was walking westbound on Route 34 in the northbound lane.

Baker was struck by a vehicle driven by an Oswego man, according to police.

Yorkville police are investigating the crash with the assistance of the Kane County Sheriff's Department. Baker's death is under investigation by Yorkville police and the Kane County Coroner's Office.

All lanes reopened after 7 a.m. Sunday.
