Polar Star Sons of Norway Lodge to host Taste of Norway

Traditional Norwegian Foods, craft demonstrations and venders. Fox Valley Norwegian Choir will perform at 1:00 pm Open to the Public

Polar Star Sons of Norway Lodge is preparing for its annual Taste of Norway on Sunday, Nov. 4, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, 1233 Douglas Road in Montgomery, Il. The lunch menu will include homemade traditional food including smørbrød (0pen faced sandwiches) and lefse. Desserts will include a variety of Norwegian specialty cakes and cookies such as bløtkake (cream cake), mandelkake (almond cake), eplekake (apple cake), and kringla.

At the craft market, crafters will be demonstrating rosemaling (decorative NOrwegian folk painting), and klostersom embroidery. Viking jewelry, Norwegian imports, gifts, and collectibles will be available for purchase.

Lunch will be served at noon followed by the 1:00 p.m. performance of the Fox Valley Norwegian Choir directed by Doris Pittman. Vendor booths will be open throughout the event.
