Raging Waves Opens 2 New Attractions, Plans Expansion

The waterpark hosted a ribbon cutting for two new features and has plans for more new attractions to come.

YORKVILLE, IL — Raging Waves Waterpark held a ribbon cutting on Friday, officially opening its newest attractions, and also announced the purchase of 20 acres for a future expansion.

Quokka-Nut Island, intended for Raging Waves' "littlest mates," ages 2 to 5, according to the waterpark, is now officially open. Located in Kiddiebunga Bay, Quokka-Nut Island has four new kiddie slides and a zero-depth pool which more than doubles the size of the existing kiddie pools. Interactive play features include a coconut rain curtain, palm tree sprayers and a large octopus that spouts water.

The park also debuted two new open body slides, the Wild Wallabies, this year. "The two new slides add more than 600 feet of twists, turns and thrills to Illinois’ largest waterpark for guests over 42 inches," or 3 feet, 5 inches, according to Raging Waves. The two new additions are the latest since the 2016 debut of Wonambi, a four-person thrill ride named after a pre-historic, constrictor snake native to Australia that literally took the breath away from its prey. Raging Waves said it was one of just three waterparks in the U.S. to feature the ride.

Raging Waves spokesman Brad Donati told Kendall County Now the park recently acquired 20 acres directly to the south of the park for future expansion, though specific plans for the property have not been announced.

Raging Waves, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, brands itself as Illinois' largest waterpark. The park sees about 6,000 visitors on busy days. As temperatures hit the low 90s on Sunday, a post on the Raging Waves Facebook page said the park was filled to capacity, but was later removed.

The park is located at 4000 N. Bridge St.
