Yorkville Announces Public Hearing For Proposed Tax Increase

YORKVILLE, IL—A public hearing to approve a proposed property tax levy increase will be held on Nov. 12, 2019 at 7:00 p.m., according to Yorkville city leaders.
The public hearing will take place inside city council chambers at 800 Game Farm Road in Yorkville.
Any person desiring to appear at the public hearing and present testimony to the taxing district may City Administrator Bart Olson or City Clerk Lisa Pickering at (630) 553-4350.

City leaders said that the corporate and special purpose property taxes extended for 2018 were $3,946,417.
The proposed corporate and special purpose property taxes to be levied for 2019 are $4,340,588. This represents a 9.99% increase over the previous year, city leaders said.

The property taxes extended for debt service and public building commission leases for 2018 were $797,038.
City leaders added that the estimated property taxes to be levied for debt service and public building commission leases for 2019 are $827,088. This represents a 3.77% increase over the previous year.
The total property taxes extended or abated for 2018 were $4,743,456.
The estimated total property taxes to be levied for 2019 are $5,167,676. This represents a 8.94% increase over the previous year.
According to its government website, for the 2018 Tax Levy Year (payable in 2019) Yorkville presently accounts for approximately 6% of its residents overall property tax bill. This means that for every dollar paid in property taxes, the city receives six cents.
