Yorkville Doctor Charged With Sexually Assaulting Patients Changing Lawyers

The Doctor was found not guilty in one case decided in January

Haohua Yang, the doctor charged with sexually assaulting patients is changing lawyers, according to the Beacon News. His former attorney Terry Ekl handed off future cases to Bob Motta.

Court documents show that Yang was charged with criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse in December 2014. He was accused of inappropriately touching or fondling female patients during physical exams at his Yorkville practice, according to the Naperville Sun. The state suspended his medical license after the charges were made.

There have been 28 charges filed against Yang, and his lawyers have said that 17 individuals came forward to accuse the doctor of sexual abuse and assault.

At the conclusion of a bench trial in January, Yang was found not guilty in the first of what may be several cases. Yang requested to have a separate case for each individual who claimed to be assaulted, and the state agreed.

In April 2015, Yang was arrested at O'Hare International Airport after trying to illegally enter China. Yang claimed in court that he violated bond to visit his ill wife.
