Yorkville Man Held On $1 Million Bond In Explosives Case

YORKVILLE, IL — On May 6, Yorkville Police arrested a man they say made threats to local law enforcement and created homemade explosives to intimidate officers. William Larson, 34, of the 500 block of Barberry Drive, Yorkville, was charged with harassment of witnesses and possession of explosives.

Police said Larson was taken to the Kendall County Jail where he is being held on a $1 million bond.

As the Patch previously reported, law enforcement authorities responded around 10 p.m. April 23 to the 500 block of Barberry Circle in response to intelligence prompting an investigation into potential explosives.

Police said Larson is the subject behind threats made to and about witnesses, including local law enforcement officers, regarding a pending criminal case in which Larson has been charged.

Authorities found videos during the investigation that show Larson creating and using explosives.

Upon serving a warrant, a law enforcement search of Larson’s residence revealed what officials said is a substantial quantity of fireworks, which were seized.

Also assisting in the investigation were the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, the Kane County Bomb Squad, Kendall County Sheriff’s Department and the Oswego Police Department.

Police wanted it to be clear there was no immediate threat to public safety during the investigation.
