Yorkville Mayor Won't Make Alderman Appointment for Ward 2

The mayor previously said he would make a short-term appointment to fill a vacancy

Mayor Gary Golinski announced at a city council meeting last week that he would not be appointing anyone to the Ward 2 alderman position, according to WSPY. The position was vacated by former Alderman Larry Kot.

Golinski said earlier in the month that he would make a short-term appointment, but decided against it. The mayor noted that he knows or worked with each of the three candidates for Ward 2. Former alderman Arden Plocher, Park Board President Deborah Horaz and resident Robert Gryder are running for the office.

Golinski told WSPY that he would "leave it up to the people and let the best person win."
