Yorkville Police Blotter: Oct. 25 - 31
Yorkville Police responded to a home invasion, battery, domestic violence and more that week.

YORKVILLE, IL — A child found, a deer on the loose and a minor reporting a home invasion were some of the calls Yorkville Police responded to in the past few days. Here are some highlights from Oct. 25 - 31 police reports.
Approximately $4,280 worth of goods were stolen from a parked car Oct. 25 around 7 a.m. The unlocked car was parked in the 200 block of E. Spring St.
A deer ran from a ditch into a Honda. The driver was on Rt. 71 near Budd Road when the animal struck the front passenger door and fender area. Both were damaged. There were no injuries, no tow needed and no citations issued. The deer was not located.

An early-morning suspicious vehicle report near Sumac Drive and Twinleaf Trail led officers to a parked Ford Taurus on the side of the road with three men inside. The driver, Ryan Williams, 19, of the 2000 block of Monarchos Lane in Montgomery, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He had an electronic cigarette with liquid THC and a metal grinder. A passenger, 19-year-old Daniel Ruiz, of the 800 block of Hampton Lane in Yorkville, was arrested on a Kendall County warrant and transported to Kendall County Corrections. Ruiz had less than two grams of cannabis on him. Both were given citations. The incident occurred Oct. 26 at 5:30 a.m.
Police and Fire responded Oct. 27 at 10:50 p.m. to the 1700 block of John Street for a portable restroom on fire. It was put out and no injuries were reported. The report says arson was the nature of incident.

A speeding vehicle with one headlight was pulled over Oct. 28 at 5:50 p.m. It was learned that Luis Sandoval-Medina, 25, of Plano, was driving without a valid license. His passenger, Patsy Cruz-Hernandez, 22, of the same address, had a warrant out of Kendall County. They were both taken into custody and the vehicle was towed. The incident took place near the intersection of Route 47 and Washington Street.
A traffic stop Oct. 28 at 6:53 p.m. led police to a missing child out of Chicago. The juvenile was taken into temporary custody and later returned to his parents. The car was stopped at the corner of Rt. 34 and Rt. 47.
Police responded to a fight Oct. 28 at 11:22 p.m. in the 200 block of S. Bridge Street. Upon arrival, police say they were met with uncooperative employees and witnesses. One victim claimed he was poked in the right eye by an unknown woman who had already left. Police say he refused medical attention and did not want anything done about the incident.
Police responded to a domestic violence report in the 1300 block of Marketplace Drive Oct. 29 at 3:42 a.m. They discovered that Robert J. Simmons, 40, of Sauk Village, had a warrant for his arrest related to a previous DUI charge. Simmons was taken into custody at Kendall County Jail.
A domestic battery call Oct. 29 at around 2:48 p.m. in the 600 block of Redtail Court led to the arrest of Daniel Grutza, 28, of the 1600 block of Diehl Road in Naperville. He was taken to Kendall County Jail.
Police responded to a retail theft Oct. 29 at 3:35 p.m. at the 1900 block of Marketview Drive. Suspects had left before officials arrived, but they did learn that two men purchased items from the business, then stole a cigarette lighter off the counter.
During a traffic stop for speeding, police found four teenagers with alcoholic beverages. A passenger, 19-year-old George R. Torres, of the 700 block of Hamilton Ave. in Aurora, was arrested for the possession of alcohol by a minor. The driver of the vehicle, who was unnamed, was cited for illegal transportation of alcohol.
While assisting emergency services with a medical issue at a residence on the 100 block of E. Fox St., officers placed Amy J. Voss, 31, under arrest for having a warrant for failure to appear on a shoplifting charge in LaSalle County. She was taken to Kendall County Corrections Oct. 30 just before 11 p.m.
On Oct. 31, officers stopped Reginald D. McGowan, 39, of the 1200 block of Marywood Court in Aurora for an in-state warrant out of Kendall County. He did not have a valid driver’s license and was also cited for operating an uninsured vehicle with a loud muffler. McGowan was transported to Kendall County Corrections. The incident occurred at 11:21 a.m. at a traffic stop at 1800 block of Marketview Dr.
A boy reported a home invasion at the 1200 block of Marketplace Drive Oct. 31. He was home alone lying on a couch when four people entered through an unlocked door. One suspect, who the victim knew, punched the victim in the face. Yorkville Police are investigating the situation, which occurred just after 6:30 p.m.
Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
