YORKVILLE, IL — During the recent Thanksgiving enforcement effort from Nov. 20 through Monday, the Yorkville Police Department increased traffic patrols aimed at targeting impaired drivers. According to a news release from the police department, police throughout the state participated in this effort to decrease the number of highway fatalities by getting impaired drivers off the roads, and more people buckled up.
During this period, Yorkville police took the following enforcement actions, according to the news release:
- 3 suspended/revoked licenses
- 3 uninsured motorists
- 7 speeding citations
- 3 drug arrests
According to the news release, extra emphasis was placed on enforcement during late-night hours throughout the mobilization period, as this is when statistics show the most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities occur.
