Yorkville Schools Cancels Activities Before Tuesday's Ice Storm
Officials anticipate classes will be held as scheduled on Wednesday.

YORKVILLE, IL — Yorkville School District will close all buildings at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening due to an ice storm warning, officials have announced. All athletic contests are canceled and will be rescheduled. Officials advising checking with coaches for revised schedules.
"Our city and county officials have assured me that the salting of roads will begin early this afternoon to limit the slick road conditions that may otherwise result from the ice storm," said superintendent Tim Shimp. "Therefore, school will be in session tomorrow. Of course, if the storm is more severe than expected, parents will be notified of any changes to the school schedule according to our weather emergency plan."
Due to other recent closures, the Yorkville School District announced last week that the last day of school will be moved back to May 30.

Meanwhile, Yorkville Christian High School has announced a late start Wednesday morning. Classes will begin at 9 a.m., officials said. School District 308 in Oswego has also canceled after-school activities.
