Classes are expected to resume on schedule Friday, Feb. 1.

YORKVILLE, IL — Yorkville Schools will close at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, officials say, with all after school sports, activities and events canceled due to life-threatening cold. Yorkville High School practices, rehearsals, and auditions will conclude by 4 p.m., while the SAFE program will maintain its normal schedule (open until 6 p.m.).

In addition, schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, with all sports, activities and events schedules for those days called off as well. School is expected to resume as scheduled Friday, Feb. 1.

"I thank you for your patience and understanding as I work to balance limiting disruptions to the learning process with ensuring the safety and well-being of our children," said superintendent of schools Tim Shimp.
