Yorkville Woman Drove Drunk Into Railroad Crossing: Police

In Yorkville Police recent arrest reports, a man locked himself in closet with kids to hide from woman with knife.

YORKVILLE, IL — Recent arrest reports include a railroad intersection crash, a hit-and-run, someone with a kitchen knife and stolen change from a car. All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in the court of law.

A woman was charged with a DUI Jan. 5 after allegedly crashing into a railroad intersection while drunk, according to a Yorkville police report. Lisa M. Cornelius, 39, of the 200 block of Wilson Place in Oswego, was traveling north on Kennedy Road when she drove 300 feet off the road and struck crossing arms at a railroad intersection, police say. The time was 8:10 p.m.

Cornelius was taken to Rush-Copley medical center for minor injuries, the report said. She was ticketed for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured vehicle, and charged with a DUI. The incident occurred at the intersection Kennedy Road and the railroad. She was driving a 2001, four-door Toyota.

A Yorkville police report said Jesus Camacho-Vera, 28, of the 10,000 block of W. Route 34, was arrested Jan. 6 around 1:16 a.m. for driving with a suspended license. Police said he was stopped for driving without a rear light for his registration, which he was cited for. He was also cited for operating an uninsured vehicle, according to police.


A Chicago driver of a 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck reported a hit-and-run that he said took place Jan. 6 at 2:20 p.m. near the intersection of Route 71 and Route 47. The police report said the car was headed south on Route 71 when it struck the driver's bumper and left before police arrived. The pickup did not sustain any damage.

Loose change and a cordless drill were stolen from an unlocked car parked in a driveway Jan. 4 around 11:55 a.m., according to a Yorkville police report. The incident occurred at the 2000 block of Meadowview Lane.


A woman was arrested Jan. 4 for aggravated assault. A Yorkville police report said a man locked himself and two kids in a closet because the suspect was "wielding a knife in the kitchen area of the house during an argument." The suspect, 45-year-old Jennifer M. Brooke, of the 600 block of Redbud Dr. in Yorkville, was arrested without incident, the police report said. The incident took place at the same address.
