Yorkville Wrestling Tournament May Get New Name

A Yorkville wrestling club tournament may no longer bear Dennis Hastert’s name, according to a report from the Chicago Tribune.

Yorkville Wrestling Club Executive Board President and coach Chad Stevens told the Tribune it’s likely the tournament will be renamed.

“We haven’t made a determination, but we’ve talked about it,” he said. “We will still have it, but it won’t be named the Dennis Hastert anymore.”

The Denny Hastert Yorkville Invitational is described on the Yorkville Wrestling Club’s website as being one of the best in Illinois and known for its organization and community involvement.

“It is one of the focal points of the wrestling season and an important fundraising venture for wYc,” the website states.

Proceeds from the tournament are put back into the Yorkville Wrestling Club to help develop wrestlers and wrestling in Illinois, according to the website.
