Ankeny Community Theatre's Holiday Show Takes The Stage
Everyone learns about friendship, real wealth and the value of a gift truly given in Ankeny Community Theatre's The Regifters.
What happens when a couple regifts a present only to find out later that it is worth a fortune? A mad pursuit to track it down and get it back, of course! Ankeny Community Theatre’s production of Robert Lynn’s ‘The Regifters’ will run December 4 - 20.
Michael Porche is the director for the show. “Regifters is so well written that the playwright, Robert Lynn of Dubuque, allowed for sight humor rather than just depending on the dialogue. It is funny without being silly and sarcastic without being stupid. As I was first reading the script I stopped seeing the words and actually saw it playing out in my head. When this happened I knew I had to direct this one.”
Al Price of Ankeny plays Loras Henshaw. “This is a great Christmas show. It shows how we can get caught up in what we think is important in our lives and can miss the true meaning of Christmas. These characters go to a lot of work to avoid any recognition of Christmas. To them Christmas is all about receiving. I like the vignette style of the show. The audience will get to know each of the couples and see their view of Christmas.”

“I really enjoy the humor in this show,” shares Alexis Beyer of West Des Moines. She plays Katie Weiss. “The various characters, who aren’t quite in the Christmas spirit, have some very comical interactions with each other on their way to learning a very valuable lesson.”
Show times are 7:30 PM. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2:00 PM on Sundays. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors (60+) and $10 for youth (ages 5-18). Due to adult content, this show is rated PG-13. To make online reservations, visit our website at www.ankenycommunitytheatre.com or call 964-5007.
