Ankeny Judge Who Investigated International Terrorism and Human Trafficking Retires from Court of Appeals

Iowa Court of Appeals Judge Larry Eisenhauer, of Ankeny, who investigated human trafficking and terrorism for the United Nations, announced this week that he will retire, according to a release from the Iowa Judicial Branch.

Eisenhauer was appointed in 2001 and will retire in September. During that appointment Eisenhauer served a volunteer six-month term as an international judge for the United Nations in Kosovo. While there he served as a presiding judge on a three-judge panel in a human trafficking case and investigated a terrorism case, the release said.

"I've studied legal systems, visited with judges from around the world and worked for the United Nations and I can say without hesitation the Iowa court system is one of the finest in the world. The Iowa Court of Appeals includes a wonderful group of hard working and thoughtful judges supported by an excellent staff. I'm retiring to travel, enjoy my family and I hope to continue to serve as a senior judge."

Eisenhauer will be replaced by the governor in September, according to the Des Moines Register.
