Ankeny Police Chief Gary Mikulec was recognized as Iowa’s Law Enforcement Executive of the Year at the Iowa Police Chiefs Association awards banquet May 30th in Coralville.

Mikulec was credited with streamlining the Ankeny Police Department, making the department a coveted workplace and spearheading the design and implementation of “one of the nation's most envied police facilities.”

The Ankeny chief also serves as the police chief's association's current legislative liaison.

“Chief Mikulec sets that standard for law enforcement executives and is a critical asset to the law enforcement community, our association and our state. His passion for serving the law enforcement community is only outweighed by his compassion for the citizens that he serves,” Iowa Police Chiefs Association President, Jeremy Logan, said in a prepared statement.
