The Port Authority board, which is appointed by Gov. Christie and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, voted to approve the contract just one day after both governors announced their selection in a joint press release.
“The governors are calling on the Port Authority Board of Commissioners to approve the agreement when the matter goes before the Board at its monthly meeting tomorrow,” the release said.
Christie has been in hot water with New Jersey residents since he was spotted at Sunday’s Dallas game in a luxury suite with Jones.
It was later revealed that the trip and game tickets were paid for by the Dallas Cowboys owner, which violates New Jersey ethics rules barring gifts to public officials from any person(s) they do business with.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Gov. Christie’s aids said the gifts were acceptable since they were from a relative or personal friend and paid for with personal funds.
