Fall Art Classes in Ankeny

We have many art classes coming-up this fall at the Ankeny Art Center. From art exploration to basic drawing to watercolor painting and ceramics, our creative and informative art classes are the best value in the greater Des Moines area! Classes are taught by experienced instructors and we are equipped to accommodate all levels of skill and interests.

Here's a few of our fall art classes for adults:

Adult Beginner Pottery Class. When you put a ball of clay in your hands, you just want to start making something- it’s so natural that it’s uncanny. Discover some of the things that thousands of potters around the world with this wonderful medium! Emphasis is placed on developing a personal sense of form using sound fundamental skills.

Adult Art Exploration Class. To really enjoy working with any art medium, it’s important to familiarize yourself with it and play with it awhile before your try to do anything serious. That’s where our Adult Art Exploration class starts; we encourage you to get acquainted and explore different mediums!

Adult Watercolor Basics Class. Learn the foundations for making successful watercolor paintings under the guidance of our watercolor expert Jan Globuschutz. If you’ve always wanted to paint with watercolors but aren’t sure where to start, join us for this introduction to this exciting medium. You won’t need to buy a famous painting, you can create your own original work of art!

Adult Basic Drawing Class Learning how to draw can be frustrating. It takes time to practice and you need to have good instruction to follow. This class is a perfect solution. We'll show you how to explore the fundamentals of drawing in this beginner drawing class for adults. Try drawing like you’ve never experienced it before!

Adult Art Club. We offer this advanced open studio for students who are ready for more sophisticated art exploration! This class is intended for teens and adult students who are interested in practicing their pottery skills in our studio. There is not any formal instruction, however, constructive collaboration is encouraged among artists. Please note that previous pottery experience is required.
