Fall Art Exhibits in Ankeny

Do you fancy seeing a free art exhibition this fall, but you don’t know where there is one near you? From Ankeny to Des Moines and everywhere else nearby, here are the art exhibitions you’ll be talking about this fall!

From Ankeny, in the main gallery, we’ll have Duende as Art with their exhibit titled titled “Heaven on Earth - From The Heartland” that represents Iowa life and a visual homecoming captured on canvas. Duende as Art is a collective group of three artists (Katherine Rody, Angela Meijer and Adriaan Meijer) working together to create a visual display of color, movement and the emotion of shared experiences. With three brushes and three artists, they bring beautiful layers of color and movement onto a single canvas.

In the side gallery, the artists from Sticks will be exhibiting their works of art in a group exhibition that is appropriately titled “Moonlighting”. This group of artists works hard to help create wonderful designs with nationally acclaimed artist Sarah Grant of Des Moines. The exhibit will include works by Jeff Hutchison, Madeline Mitchell, Julie VandeBerg, Ericca Davis, Tanya Lichinsky, Shawn Wolter, Amy Putney Koenig, Rachel Horn and Courtney Work. A display of Sarah Grant’s work will be exhibited in the side gallery alcove.

A reception for all the artists will be held on Thursday, October 8th from 5-7pm. The exhibition opens to the public on October 6 and runs through November 26. Both the exhibition and reception are free and open to the public; wine and appetizers will be served at the opening reception.

The Ankeny Art Center is located in a City park at 1520 SW Ordnance Rd off of State St and just east of the John Deere plant. Gallery hours are Tuesday - Friday: 9am-1pm, Thursday: 4pm-7pm and Saturday: 9am-noon.
