Firetrucker Brings Brewery to Uptown
City approves land sale, sale of former fire station in the Uptown.

Firetrucker LLC hopes to revitalize Ankeny's Uptown by building a brewery in the former fire station.
The company offered to purchase the former station at 716 SW Third Street as well as a portion of the former VW Smith Oil property at 206 S. Maple Street from the City for about $47,000. It was one of three proposals the city received, according to a recent Des Moines Register story.

Organizers for the project hope to raise $1.5 million to build two covered open-air pavilions near the trailhead for the High Trestle Trail to hold the weekly farmer's market as well as community and cultural events. The area would include parking for 120 cars and public restrooms as well.
Firetrucker has also committed to support the Ankeny Market Pavilion in the future, support an annual Fire Department fundraiser, and sponsor live music on Saturday or Sunday afternoons at the Trailhead, according to city documents.
