Fridley Announces End To Passes, Gift Cards At Ankeny's Springwood 9 Theatres

ANKENY, IA -- The company that will take over Ankeny's only theater complex later this month will not accept gift cards or passes issued by its current owner, Fridley Theatres announced Friday. The new owners, B & B Theatres of Kansas City, take over the Springwood 9 Theatres on Oct. 16.

"With the interests of our guests in mind, we intended to make arrangements with B&B Theatres to continue to honor our admission passes and gift cards for a limited time," said a Fridley news release issued Friday. "B&B was unable to meet this request. So, we regrettably inform you that all Fridley Theatres passes and gift cards will only be valid at the Springwood Theatres in Ankeny through Sunday, October 15th."

B & B Theatres plans to operate the Springwood 9, located at 2829 S. Ankeny Blvd., throughout construction of a new 12-screen complex it will build in the Prairie Trail area of the city. That complex, which will include a bowling center, is slated to open in 2018.

Fridley will honor all gift cards and passes -- including its blue corporate passes, navy and/or orange re-admission passes, paper and plastic gift cards, concession discount and free coupons -- at other Fridley theaters.

"We apologize for this inconvenience, and we sincerely hope that you’ll visit us at our other theatres," Fridley's notice said. "We believe we can deliver the same level of service that you’ve come to expect in Ankeny at the newly renovated Copper Creek Cinemas in Pleasant Hill and the Paramount Theatres in Indianola."
