Get Involved At Earth Day Events In Ankeny
Ankeny residents are invited to give back to the community by volunteering at annual Earth Day Stream/Watershed Cleanup event on April 17.

Ankeny residents are invited to give back to the community by volunteering at the annual Earth Day Stream/Watershed Cleanup event on Saturday, April 17, 2021, from 8 – 11 a.m. Volunteers are needed to help clean the ponds and wetlands around Promenade Park in The District at Prairie Trail.

Volunteers should meet at the south end of the parking lot adjacent to District 36, at the corner of SW Merchant Street and SW Vintage Parkway. The City will provide trash bags and vinyl gloves. Volunteers are advised to bring their own water bottles and wear boots or old shoes as they may get wet or dirty. This is a family-friendly activity and volunteers can come and go at any time during the event. Social distancing is required. Registration is encouraged www.ankenyiowa.gov/EarthDayRSVP.

Free Tree Giveaway
The City of Ankeny will be giving away tree seedlings on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, from 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., (or while they last) at the Maintenance Facility, 211 SE Lorenz Drive. The tree seedlings will be placed in buckets by the free mulch and compost bins. Staff will not be on-site to assist. Tree give away is first come, first served, limit of two trees per household. Please practice social distancing when picking up trees. The following trees will be available: swamp white oak, hackberry, river birch and red oak. The tree giveaway is for Ankeny residents only.
