Iowa National Guard Recalls Over 1,000 Furloughed Employees
The move comes in response to the Pay Our Military Act, passed by Congress and signed by President Obama last week to keep paychecks coming to the armed forces during the federal government shutdown.

The Iowa National Guard, based at Camp Dodge in Johnston, had sent over 1,000 of its employees, most of them uniformed of the guard, on unpaid leave Oct. 1.
Twenty employees will not return to work, with almost 100 additional employees scheduled to be furloughed if the shutdown continues past Oct. 18.
