'Suspicious Activity' Being Investigated By Ankeny Police
Police say the female driver stopped children walking home from school.

ANKENY, IA — The Ankeny Police Department is investigating a report of suspicious activity after receiving a call Tuesday that a driver of a vehicle approached two children walking home from school. The incident happened in the Sawgrass neighborhood.
Police continue to search for a white female driving a black vehicle. They said the woman stopped to speak with children at approximately 3 p.m. in the 3500 block of Sawgrass Drive.
While no suspects have been identified, the police department did increase law enforcement presence in the area and will continue to be vigilant while investigating.

The department encourages parents to discuss personal safety with their children and has the following safety tips:
- Be aware of your surroundings
- Don’t talk to strangers
- If approached by someone in a vehicle, do not walk over to the vehicle or engage with the person
- Report any suspicious activity to police immediately by calling 911
Additionally, drivers are encouraged to not engage a child with questions or ask directions.
