Winter Storm Warning Saturday and Sunday
Will the roads be safe for Super Bowl travel?

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for central Iowa from 7:00 tonight until 9:00 Sunday night. A Hazardous Weather Outlook is also in effect.
The weekend’s forecast for the metro area looks like this:
Saturday

- Noon until 6:00pm - 90-percent chance of rain (up to half an inch) this afternoon with a high around 40.
- 7:00pm - rain will turn to snow and continue through the night. 3-7 inches possible. Low in the mid 20s.
Sunday
- Morning/afternoon - Snow continuing with patchy blowing snow. High in the mid 20s but into the teens by sunset. Winds up to 20 mph and 2-4 inches of new snow possible.
- Night - snow lets up and cold temperatures take over. Half an inch of new snow possible, with a low around zero and wind chills as low as 10 below.
