Two pickup trucks and a USPS mail truck collided Wednesday afternoon on Largo Road; police are investigating the accident.

LARGO, MD — The driver of a pickup truck died Wednesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on Largo Road (Route 202) that involved a U.S. Postal Service truck, according to the Maryland State Police. Four other accident victims were taken to Prince George’s Hospital Center, and Largo Road was closed for several hours as police investigated the accident.

The driver of the GMC pickup, the vehicle's sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene, the state police said. They said he will be identified after his relatives are notified.

Maryland state troopers responded shortly after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to the scene of the crash, on Largo Road at Wood Branch Court. They found that the GMC pickup, the mail truck and a white Ram pickup truck had collided with each other, according to a state police statement.

A preliminary investigation showed that the driver of the GMC pickup crossed the center line of Largo Road and struck the Ram pickup head-on, the state police said. The USPS truck, traveling behind the Ram, was unable to stop to avoid crashing into the two pickup trucks.
