11 Ways To Celebrate Earth Day In Prince George's County
Prince George's celebrates Earth Day on Thursday, April 22. Here are 11 ways to protect the local environment and show your green thumb.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Earth Day is on Thursday, April 22. Maryland is gearing up with plenty of distanced and virtual events.
"The pandemic has reminded Marylanders how valuable our green spaces are," the Maryland League of Conservation Voters said in a press release. "We are [fortunate] to live in a state with such extraordinary natural resources, from the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries to the mountains of Western Maryland."
The League of Conservation Voters suggested that Marylanders:

- Visit a state park
- Clean up a local waterway or trail
- Research organizations that support the environment
- Check your representative's environmental voting record
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation also has some events planned this weekend. Locals can:
- Volunteer at a farm in Upper Marlboro on Friday
- Clean oyster shells in Shady Side on Friday
- Plant trees in Frederick County on Saturday

"Celebrating Earth Day is a reminder of the importance of conservation and sustainability," said Bill Tyler, director of the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation. "The Department provides programs and activities to support residents with healthy and eco-friendly life choices. It’s our responsibility to Mother Earth."
