2 Cats Left To Fend For Themselves; SPCA Seeks New, Loving Owners
These cats were left outside to fend for themselves. Months later, a neighbor took them to the SPCA where they now search for a loving home.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Patch recently partnered with the SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George's County. Each week, we will bring you the cutest pets looking for homes. Here are this week's adorable adoptables.
Personality: I’m a year old, but still a precocious kitten! I love attention and playing with toys. I’m very curious and like to explore. I steal food and sometimes growl and bite when I don’t get my way. I’m very busy, so I don’t like to be held, and sometimes am not nice about telling you. But I’m learning better manners, and despite my bad habits, I’m a sweet, silly boy. I like to talk too, especially when I think you might feed me. I’ll literally sing for my supper!

Favorite Napping Spot: Curled up next to my foster mom.
How I Came To The SPCA: My brother, Shawnee, and I lost our home when an infant came to live in our house. We were put outside to fend for ourselves. A few months later, a neighbor saw us digging in a trash can and after talking to our former owner, called the PGSPCA for help. They took us in and we are so happy to be in a warm, safe home again!
Dream Family: I would like a family that will play with me a lot and be patient with me as I learn to be a spoiled house cat again. I don’t need a home with my brother, but I would like a cat friend who can show me the ropes and help me see it’s ok to trust my new family. I have a lot of energy and curiosity, and would like a home where I can run around and explore.
Personality: I’m a shy boy and take a while to come out of my shell. I am still learning to trust people again, and that I am safe and will always have food and love. I like to be petted, but get overwhelmed by the attention. When I feel comfortable, I act like a silly kitten chasing after my toys.
Hobbies: Playing with toys, sniffing out treats.
Favorite Toys: Strings and feathers, scratching posts.
Favorite Napping Spot: In my little cat bed or on the cat tree.
How I Came To The SPCA: My brother, Apache, and I lost our home when an infant came to live in our house. We were put outside to fend for ourselves. A few months later, a neighbor saw us digging in a trash can and after talking to our former owner, called the PGSPCA for help. They took us in and we are so happy to be in a warm, safe home again!
Dream Family: I would like a quiet, patient family that will help me learn that I’m always going to be safe and don’t have to be afraid or fight for food. I have good litter box and scratching manners, but still think I have to hunt for food. I get easily overwhelmed and sometimes bite and growl. I promise I don’t bite too hard, and I don’t mean to hurt anyone. I don’t need to stay with my brother, but would like a cat friend whose example I can follow.
Personality: Do you like to have things your way? So do I!! I am not interested in kisses and cuddles, but will let you know when I’d like to be petted. I’ll also let you know when I’ve had enough. I like to be near my people all day, and will happily sleep next to you while you work or watch TV. When I’m awake, I like to play and eat, and will stare at you until you comply with my demands. I’m very scared of other cats and will growl, hiss, and try to hide from them. I love playing with my string toys, especially when they go under a piece of tissue paper. Also, sometimes my tail won’t stop moving and that annoys me, so I try to catch it. I’m full of sass, but my foster mom says that’s why she loves me so much.
Hobbies: Giving disapproving glares when my food bowl is empty, playing with toys.
Favorite Toys: Feathers, string toys, and tissue paper.
Favorite Napping Spot: Next to my foster mom.
How I Came To The SPCA: I went into a humane trap that had been set for another cat. I was very upset in the trap, but I was also very eager to be petted. The trapper debated on releasing me, but decided I should go with her. I’m very glad she did, because I was very sick with a blood infection. I’m healthy now, and ready to live my best life with my own family.
Dream Family: I would like a quiet home with a family that has a lot of time to spend with me, and will adore me despite my cat-ish personality. I don’t like other animals, but I like my people and I get lonely when I’m left alone. I would like a spot next to you on your bed to sleep at night, and a soft space to nap near you during the day.
The local SPCA is a volunteer-run organization that does not operate a physical shelter. Volunteers house the animals in their own homes until they are adopted.
